What is missing with the insulin theory? The rest of the story. Insulin sensitivity,release and metabolism are controlled by numerous factors outside of the amount of carbohydrate consumed in the diet. Activity level,metabolism,food quality,stress,sleep and so on all affect insulin metabolism. All forms of exercise improve insulin sensitivity and this is independent of diet. What’s wrong with Gary Taubes theory on why we get fat?

There are so many things wrong with Taubes theory,it is hard to know where to start. Americans are fatter than ever simply because we are eating more (~500 calories a day more than in the 1970s) and that is from a COMBINATION of processed fats and carbohydrates.

Insulin has many beneficial functions in regards to weight control. It stimulates leptin,increases thermogenisis and signals satiety to name just a few. I could go on and on and on but these are some of the top myths that I hear over and over again. We have been so brainwashed in this society by the “experts” on weight loss.
